Thoubs

Thoub is a full outfit with long sleeves. Thoubs are characterized by colorful hand-made or machine embroidered on the chest, sleeves, and hems area. Sometimes, thoubs are fully embroidered. Thoubs were once, and still to some extent, the only socially accepted outfit to be worn by women in the rural areas. Nowadays, thoubs are back again to be worn proudly for special public occasions as a symbol of tradition that has been retained from one generation to another. Of course, the thoub is less popular than the jilbab, hijab, abaya or the dishdash, but it is very unique, in that it is Islamic clothing and a traditional one as well.
